Elwood Park is home to the Oak Park Country Club and is located on the north side of the village, north of Oak Avenue and the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign. Elmwood Park's first high school, Village of Elmwood High School, was located in a five-acre park that still exists across from Village Hall. Although it is now located in the town of Racine, which borders both villages, its campus was owned and operated by the "village" until its closure in 1990.
